Top-Notch Video Performance The XBR KDL-32XBR4 is a 720p television with a display resolution of 1366 x 768 resolution for a sharp HD picture. The KDL-32XBR4 uses the HDMI connection, which houses both audio and video signals in one connector and has the bandwidth to support the data necessary for the high resolution. Sony's Bravia Engine Video Processing System converts all video signals to 720p, so you can watch all your old DVDs on this glorious display.
Sony complements the high resolution with the latest technology in color reproduction. The KDL-32XBR is a 10-bit display with 10-bit processing. Most panels are only 8-bit. The added bit depth here means a larger color palette for more faithful color reproduction and smoother transitions from one color to the next. Additionally, the display features a special WCG-CCFL backlight that, combined with Sony's Live Color Creation system, achieves more natural and vibrant color.
The KDL-32XBR4 features Sony's Motionflow technology, which automatically adjusts for and applies the proper processing for optimal motion reproduction depending on the video input. This includes support for 24 frames per second (24p) video, which displays video content at the 24-frames-per-second rate at which it was originally filmed or recorded. With 24p, you get the most faithful possible reproduction of the original.
A Wide Variety of Inputs
This Sony television's wide variety of inputs ensures compatibility with your other home theater components. There are three HDMI connections for Blu-Ray, HD DVD, and other technologies requiring the high bandwidth, and two component video inputs, three composite video inputs, one S-Video input, one PC Audio and Video input, two RF connection inputs, and five analog audio inputs. Samsung's 32-inch TXM3296HF DynaFlat high-definition digital TV monitor offers up to 800 lines of horizontal resolution and full 1080i input capability for use with a DTV set-top box or a DVD player. The set uses a 4:3 aspect ratio DynaFlat HDTV screen with anti-distortion/anti-glare picture tube. The Pro Chip Plus NTSC-to-480-progressive-scan line-doubling system converts incoming analog sources (like VCR, cable, and non-progressive-scan DVD) to a progressive-scan 480p display, eliminating conventional TV scan lines for a flicker-free picture. Total DSP (digital signal processing) converts standard analog broadcast TV signals to digital and compensates for varying signal strengths, and Defining Filter three-line combing technology removes blurred edges between colors and reduces dot crawl. The set also includes an Invar shadow mask for heightened contrast. Velocity-scan modulation improves the definition at picture edges, creating sharper images by slowing the CRT (cathode-ray tube) beam's horizontal scanning during demanding work--say, when rendering transitions from light to dark parts of an image--and speeding it up when scanning easily rendered sections, like broad dark areas. Other features include 10 watts per channel audio power, V-Chip parental controls, and plug-and-play setup, which uses automation and a simple menu to select the source (broadcast or cable), set the clock, and map the active channels.
