The 4: 3 CT-32HL44 is 1080i/480p HDTV display that has a host of new features, including sharpness and digital noise reduction, a motion adaptive 3D comb filter and a selectable 16: 9 viewing mode. Also new on the set is an HDMI input. The CT-32HL44 has Progressive CinemaScan (3: 2 pull down) and digital velocity scan modulation. It features two HD component video inputs, four A/V inputs (one in front), and three S-Video inputs. The set includes VIVA/BBE 3D High Definition Sound System, with 15-watt 2-speaker audio power and a 3D menu system.

Panasonic's 32-inch HDTV-ready CT-32HL44 television provides state-of-the-art picture quality thanks to its innovative Tau PureFlat picture tube, which is perfectly suited to deliver outstanding home theater performance. It's compatible with both 1080i/480p HDTV displays, and it features a motion-adaptive 3D comb filter, selectable 16:9 viewing mode, progressive CinemaScan (3:2 pulldown), digital velocity scan modulation, and dual-tuner picture-in-picture.

Two-tuner picture-in-picture with split-screen display lets you view two programs at once by dividing the screen in half down the middle. Each program is shown at full height, with one program on the left side and the other on the right.

Progressive CinemaScan (3:2 pulldown) provides faithful reproduction of film-based materials. DVD mastering introduces a common distortion when adjusting 24-frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video; Progressive Cinema Scan digitally corrects this distortion, removing the redundant information to display a film-frame-accurate picture.

The motion-adaptive digital comb filter prevents any two lines with different colors from being processed together in the comb filter at the same time, minimizing any "hanging dots" in the image. With digital velocity scan modulation, advanced circuitry along the neck of the CRT senses shifts from black to white in the video signal. The black and white portions of the signal are sped up and slowed down, respectively, resulting in improved transitions.

This set has a built-in 181-channel tuner, though you'll need an optional HDTV tuner to receive high-definition broadcasts. The two built-in speakers (15 watts apiece) provide simulated surround sound and BBE high-definition audio enhancement, which helps restore the dynamic range of musical passages to help provide a more natural sound.

The CT-32HL44 has 4 composite A/V inputs (1 front), 3 S-video inputs (1 front), 2 component-video inputs, 1 RF, 1 headphone jack. It adds an HDMI connection, providing high-quality, uncompressed digital audio/video signal transmission.

Aspect ratio: The aspect ratio refers to the shape of the video image. Traditional television has a 4:3 aspect ratio, which is almost square in appearance. Digital television has either a 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio. A 16:9 aspect ratio is widescreen and appears rectangular, which looks more like a movie screen, filling more of the viewer's field of vision for a more lifelike viewing experience.

HDMI-HDCP interface: HDMI is a new standard digital connection between A/V devices, such as a set-top box, DVD player, or A/V receiver, and a digital television. HDMI offers exceptional video and audio quality with a single quick-disconnect connector. It supports multichannel digital audio transmissions and component-video color spacing for true rendering of HD video. The Samsung Neo Side-Sound 30" widescreen (16: 9 aspect ratio) HDTV Monitor is ideal for DVDs and HDTV broadcasts. Progressive scan DVD players improve the picture by eliminating interline flicker. The TXN3075WHF is among only a few mid-size TVs that can properly display progressive scan. Digitally processing the signal and presenting all analog sources in the better progressive scan improves even analog TV. With 3: 2 Pull Down film to video transfer flaws are corrected, virtually eliminating blurring and stuttering. A full compliment of connections, 2 auto sensing wideband component inputs, and 30 watts of sound are among a few of the benefits found on the TXN3075WHF. The 30" wide DynaFlat anti-distortion, antiglare flat picture tube produces images that are rock solid, bright, and makes text more legible. And the television is not only space-efficient, but well made: Samsung's proprietary DynaFlat technology provides a perfectly flat viewing image that has none of the curvature, image distortion, or glare associated with traditional screens.

Pro Chip NTSC-to-progressive-scan conversion improves typical (interlaced) TV viewing by combining odd and even scan lines, presenting flicker-free images, much like those found on today's better computer monitors. The picture becomes crisp from edge-to-edge, due in part to a 3D Y/C comb filter and velocity-scan modulation circuitry, which also maintains corner focus. If you want to watch Hollywood films at home on DVD, 3:2 pulldown is indispensable. The difference between film and video frame speeds causes slight blurring, stuttering, and other motion artifacts, especially during fast-action sequences. 3:2 pulldown corrects these anomalies so you can experience a smooth picture much closer to that of the original film.

In Samsung's DynaFlat HDTVs, the overall resolution is higher than earlier-generation sets because the individual phosphor color spots (pixels) are smaller and closer together. Its multiple-focus electron gun is capable of illuminating finer spots to achieve a much more detailed picture.

A DVD presented in progressive scan and/or HDTV content can be connected through either of two sets of auto-sensing wideband component-video inputs, and three rear-panel audio/video inputs (one with S-video) and a set of side AV inputs are also available. A pair of two-way, side-firing speakers with 15 watts per channel rounds out the set.
